Sent to Scutari on the 27th of October 1854 and rejoined the regiment on the 25th of February 1855.

"The reduction of the Army and being totally unfit for service. This man labours under secondary syphilis - the result of primary syphilis. The disease has shown itself in the form of eruptions on the skin, pain in the bones and severe Fritis attacking both eyes. I am of the opinion that he will not prove permanently effective, but will from time to time have relapses. His military service has been in no way injurious to him. He is able to earn his own living."
