"Unfit for further service. Labours under chronic opthalma of the eyes, the result of repeated inflammation to which he appears to have had a pre-disposition. Appears to be much aggravated by exposure to the sun and to sand blown up by the wind at Eupatoria. Since his return to this country he has also received an accidental blow to the left eye, which has caused a fresh attack of acute inflamation, It will materially affect his ability to earn his living."
