Death & burial

Died, "of cholera", in Camp, on the 15th of October 1854.

An obituary notice of the time stated "Sergeant Major Chuck [sic] Northcott. 13th L.D. At Sebastopol [sic] of cholera on the 15th of October, age 33."

Northcott's death is mentioned in Albert Mitchell'sMemoirs:

"Our Troop Serjeant Major (he it was who enlisted me at Westminster) seeing me in that state, told me I was killing myself [drinking the local spirits] and that before long they would have to bury me and leave me behind. Poor fellow! He little thought that before that day month I should be employed doing the same thing for himself." [RM]
