Trade: Law-writer.


Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 7th of July 1855.

From Private to Corporal: 3rd of September 1855.

Tried by a Regimental Court-martial for "neglect of duty whilst on Guard", and reduced to Private on the 19th of September 1855.

Transferred to the 3rd Dragoon Guards at Cahir on the 28th of February 1857. Regimental No. 270.

He is shown as "Raymond George Smith" on some 3rd Dragoon Guards rolls.

From Private to Corporal: 23rd of June 1859.

Corporal to Sergeant: 1st of April 1861.

Appointed to Troop Sergeant Major on the 1st of July 1862.

Died (as Cook Sergeant) at Cahir, Ireland, on the 8th of February 1878.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal, with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.

Death & burial

Died at Cahir, Ireland, on the 8th of February 1878.
