Birth & early life

Born at Marple, Cheshire c.1832.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Manchester, by the 3rd Light Dragoons for the 4th Light Dragoons, on the 16th of January 1855.

Age: 23.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: Boiler-maker.

Sallow complexion. Brown eyes. Brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of June 1855.

Transferred to the Military Train on the 1st of June 1857, but on being found "Unsuitable" was transferred back to the 4th Hussars from Bristol on the 12th of June. Regimental No. 1447. Shown in the Military Train Muster rolls as "Richard Alsop."

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Edinburgh on the 17th of January 1867.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
