Birth & early life

Enlistment

Enlisted at Liverpool on the 22nd of December 1847.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: None shown.

Service

Two children are known to have been born to him and his wife (name unknown): William at Hounslow in 1851 and Thomas at Dundalk in 1857.

Embarked for the Crimea aboard the H.T. "Wilson Kennedy" on the 2nd of May 1854.

He was at the General Hospital at Varna from the 1st of September, at Scutari from the 14th of September and sent to rejoin the regiment in the Crimea on the 23rd of November 1854.

Embarked for India aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Canterbury on the 22nd of December 1860. Served 12 years 289 days.

Conduct: "good".

In possession of two Good Conduct badges.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah and Gwalior.
