Conduct and character: "good".
In possession of two Good Conduct badges. (WO/25/3869 gives his second Christian name as "Lyon." and not Leonard. and this is repeated in the Scutari Cavalry Depot rolls for the period he was there.
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.
[PB: Obituary notice says he was present at the 1875 banquet at Alexandra Palace, "and was very proud of the volume presented to each of them containing, among other things, the names of those present".]

He is said to have died at Wolverley, near Kidderminster, in 1874, and to be buried in the churchyard of St. John the Baptist. An intensive check, however, shows no trace of a gravestone having been erected.
