Born at Brighton, Sussex.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Hounslow on the 17th of November 1849.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 9".

Trade: Labourer.

Service, discharge & pension

1851 Census

Pockthorpe Cavalry Barracks, Norwich.

John Bingham, soldier, unmarried, 20, Private, born Brighton, Sussex.

He was slightly wounded in action at Balaclava.

On "Letter Duty" from the 1st of April — 30th of June 1855:

"Deserted" from Canterbury on the 30th of November 1856.

Next of kin: Brother, Martin Bingham, iving at Wimbledon, London.

Can find no further trace to March of 1865.

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava and Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.
