Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 14th of December 1854.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 5".

Trade: Labourer.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Grey eyes. Brown hair.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

Transferred to the 1 Bn. of the Military Train on the 31st of October 1856. Regtl, No. 546.

Imprisoned, 11th-17th of March 1857 and transferred to the 4th Bn. on the 18th of March 1857.

Transferred to the 7th Bn. on the 31st of October 1859 and back to the 1 Bn. on the 1st of March 1861.

To Farrier (ranking as Sergeant) from Shoeing Smith on the 14th of May 1861.

Imprisoned, 10th-12th of August and reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 13th of August 1861.

In a Military Prison, 6th of July — 9th of August 1863.

Transferred to the 4th Bn. on the 15th of October 1863 and returned to the 1st Bn. on the 23rd of October 1863.

In a Military Prison, 23rd of October — 31st of December 1863.

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Woolwich, "Reduction of the Corps", on the 9th of June 1864.

Conduct and character: "good". In possession of two G.C badges.

Intended to live in Belfast after discharge.

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.
