Born near Chichester, Sussex.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 13th of January 1855.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 6,".

Trade: Grocer.

Fair complexion. Blue eyes. Lt. brown hair.

Service, discharge & pension

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 7th of July 1855.

Served at Eupatoria.

Transferred to the 2nd Bn. of the Military Train on the 31st of December 1856. Regtl. No. 996.

From Private to Corporal: 1st of April 1857.

Next of kin. Brother, John Budd. Living in Leeds, Yorkshire.

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.

Served with the force under the command of H.E. the Commander-in-Chief at Lucknow and with that under Sir James Outram at Alum Bagh.

Medals & commemorations

Mutiny medal with clasps for Lucknow and the Relief of Lucknow.

Life after service

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.

Death & burial

Died at Aril, India, on the 16th of May 1858. No cause of death is shown.
