Birth & early life

Born in the parish of St. Anne's, Lewes, Sussex.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Brighton on the 14th of November 1854.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 5"

Trade: Grocer.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Grey eyes. Light brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 19th of June 1855.

Transferred to the 2nd Battalion of the Military Train at Dublin on the 17th of October 1856. Regimental No. 835.

Deserted from Woolwich on the 9th of April 1857, rejoined on the 12th of April and was transferred to the 5th Battalion 28th of April 1857.

Deserted again from Bristol, 8th of May 1857.

Can find no further trace to March 1864.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.
