Born at Ramsgate, Kent.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Cork on the 20th of January 1852.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Labourer.

Service

Tried by a District Court-martial on the 17th of May 1855 for "being asleep on his post." Given 50 lashes.

Died, "in the Crimea", on the 11th of June 1855.

Next-of-kin: Mother, Mary Bowler, living in London.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medals with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol.

The "Returned Medal Book" states "Crimean medal sent to the Mint." There is no trace of issue.
