Invalided to England on the 23rd of January 1856.
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol.
Awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct medal on the 16th of April 1860 with a gratuity of £ 5.
(The Returned Medal Book shows that his Long Service & Good Conduct medal was returned to the Mint... No trace of issue.)
His credits of £41/6/8d (which included £39/1/9d in his Savings Bank account) were paid over to his brother.
Died at Richmond, Surrey, on the 15th of May 1862, while "on furlo" there from the 16th of April 1862.
Next of kin: Brother, William Beard, living in Kennington, London.
He was buried in Richmond Cemetery, Grove Lane, in Grave No. 44 Row E. (Old Church Ground.) This was a common grave, and no headstone was erected. The Cemetery records merely state " Brought from Church Court".
