Born in London.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 26th of January 1848.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Clerk.

Service

At the time of his "going absent without leave", from Athlone, Ireland, on the 9th of November 1848 his physical description was given as being of a fresh complexion, hazel eyes and brown hair.

Service

Recorded as a deserter from the 9th of January 1849.There is however, no entry for him in the muster rolls for the January-March quarter, but he is shown again from the 1st of April with no date of rejoining or of any punishment for having deserted.

To Orderly Room Clerk from Private (as Sergeant) on the 17th of April 1852.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "by purchase", from Brighton on the 25th of August 1856. Payment of £20.

Served 8 years 61 days.

Conduct, "good".

In possession of two Good Conduct badges.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol.
