Birth & early life

Born at Stockport, Cheshire.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Liverpool on the 5th of July 1854.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 6.

Trade: Weaver.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Brown eyes. Red hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of July 1855.

Transferred to the Military Train on the 30th of September 1856, Regimental No. 198, but was transferred back to the 8th Hussars as "not being suitable."

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Discharged, "time expired", from Aldershot on the 10th of July 1866.

Served 12 years.

Conduct: "Latterly good". Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah and Gwalior.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
