Birth & early life

Born at Manchester.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Manchester on the 8th of January 1855.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Labourer.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 19th of July 1855.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Transferred to the 19th Hussars on the 1st of November 1863. Regimental No. 738.

From Private to Corporal: 3rd of January 1865.

Embarked for England on the 22nd of January 1866.

Sent to Shorncliffe on the 17th of February 1867 from Canterbury and attached to the 10th Depot Battalion.

Died at Shorncliffe Camp, 18th of March 1867.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.

Death & burial

Died at Shorncliffe Camp on the 18th of March 1867.

He was buried in the Shorncliffe Military Cemetery, Plot "F" Grave No. 297, on the 20th of March 1867. There is no memorial stone on his grave.
