Birth & early life

Enlistment

Enlisted at Westminster on the 11th of February 1851.

Age: 21.

Height: 5' 9".

Trade: None shown.

From Private to Corporal: 17th of March 1854.

Service

Embarked for the Crimea aboard the H.T. "Shooting Star" on the 25th of April 1854.

Sent to Scutari on the 26th of October and rejoined the regiment on the 24th of November 1854.

From Corporal to Sergeant: 11th of December 1854.

On Lord Raglan's Staff in May and June of 1855.

Reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 26th of April 1856.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

From Private to Corporal: 15th of October 1859.

Reduced to Private 20th of October 1861, (no reason given.)

Transferred to the 19th Hussars on the 1st of November 1863. Regimental No. 715.

To the "Unattached list" on the 31st of March 1865 and employed with the Ordnance Corps at Ferozpore.

Died at Dern Ismail Khan, India, on the 2nd of August 1867.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma and Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah.

Further information

He is shown in the India Office records as having died at Dern Ismail Khan on the 3 [sic] of August 1867 from "Ac. Dysentery," aged 34 years. Buried on the 4th of August by H.L. Brodie, Church Missionary. He was then shown as being, "Officiating, Sub-Conductor of Ordnance."
