Born St James, Dublin, c.1829.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Dublin on the 17th of September 1847.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: Servant.

Service

1851 Census

Preston Cavalry Barracks, Steyning, Sussex.

Robert Caffrey, Private, unmarried, 21 Private Soldier, born St James Dublin.

Embarked for the Crimea aboard the H.T. Emperor on the 7th of April 1854.

At Varna on the 1st of September 1854.

He is later shown on the muster rolls as being "Batman to the Hon. Somerset Calthorpe and on the staff of Lord Raglan."

Died, "on board ship", during the passage to Scutari on the 4th of February 1855.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.
