Birth & early life

Born at Grimsby, Suffolk.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Newbridge on the 5th of July 1854.

No other enlistment details apart from his trade as a labourer are shown.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 29th of April 1855.

"Deserted" from London on the 30th of August 1856.

Can find no further trace to 1879.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.

Further information

An entry in WO/25/3869 shows:

"Deserted 30/8/56. served 2 years 55 days. Documents to Chelsea, 19/1/96 — Discharged from 1/7th Foot, 1/8/67."
