Birth & early life

Born at Silbridge. Co. Kildare.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Dublin on the 13th of May 1847.

Age: 21.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Gardener.

Service

Embarked for the Crimea aboard the H.T. "Mary Anne" on the 19th of April 1854.

Confined from the 18th of September 1855. Tried by a Regimental Court-martial on the 20th of September and given 50 lashes.

From Private to Corporal: 1st of October 1857.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Died at Camp Thydrabad, India, on the 24th of April 1858.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah.

Further information

The Returned Medal Book shows that his Crimean medal (as Private) and the Mutiny medal (as Corporal) were returned to the Mint. No trace of issue.
