Birth & early life

Born in London.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Hounslow on the 16th of March 1842.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Carpenter.

From Private to Orderly Room Clerk (On probation.): 18th of January 1851.

Reverted to Private, "at his own request", on the 22nd of November 1853.

Service

Embarked for the Crimea aboard the H.T. "Wilson Kennedy" on the 2nd of May 1854.

As Acting Orderly Room Clerk during the October/December Quarter and on being promoted to Corporal, and was appointed to Orderly Room Clerk (On Probation) from the 28th of February 1855.

Died, "in the Camp Hospital", on the 29th of June 1855.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol. He is ranked as a Sergeant on the latter roll.

Medal roll states, "Specially ordered — 24th of July 1857."
