Born in the parish of St. Mary Bishophill the Younger, York, and christened there on the 14th of April 1816, the son of Thomas and Mary (nee Castle) Ellison.
Enlisted at York on the 19th of May 1833.

Trade: Shoe-maker.
Fair complexion. Hazel eyes. Lt. brown hair.
Embarked for India on the 5th of July 1834, and returned to England in January/February 1838.
