Born c.1816 at Beccles, Suffolk, and was christened at Warlingham, Suffolk, on the 7th of January 1816, the son of Robert Flowers and his wife, Sussanah, nee White.
Enlisted at Coventry on the 2nd of November 1837.

Two of his daughters, Mary Elizabeth (12 years) and Susan Sophia (8), entered the Royal Victoria Patriotic Asylum for Girls, Wandsworth, on the 10th June 1858. Their mother was named as Elizabeth Flowers, living in London.
