Tried by a Regimental Court-martial on the 5th of October 1855 for his "insolent language" to a superior.. Awarded and given, 25 lashes.
Transferred to the 7th Hussars at Aldershot on the 1st of August 1857. Regimental No. 99.
From Private to Corporal: 2nd of April 1861.
Arrived at the Canterbury Depot from India on the 27th of February 1867.
Discharged, "time expired", from Canterbury on the 7th of June 1867.

Conduct and character: "very good".
In possession of two Good Conduct badges.
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.
Mutiny medal with clasp for Lucknow.
Served in the field in Oude, East Indies, from the 4th of February — 18th of May 1858, including the siege of Lucknow, 2-16 of March 1858.
Indian General Service medal with clasp for North West Frontier.
Served between the 5th of December 1863 and the 8th of January 1864 in the Expedition against Sultan Muhammed Khan under the command of Brevet Colonel A.F. Macdonell, C.B.
Only three troops (145) men of the regiment took part and this medal would appear to be unique to a man of the 4th Light Dragoons who had previously served in the Crimea.
