Reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 2nd of July 1857.
Discharged, "by claim", from Dublin on the 2nd of November 1864.
Conduct and character: "very good". In possession of two Good Conduct badges.
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava and Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.
He may possibly have died before 1875 as there is no trace of him ever belonging to the Balaclava Commemoration Society or of ever attending any of the veteran's functions.

In 1871, Henry Groome was living at 15, Winkfield Terrace, Lambeth with his wife Mary aged 33. He is shown as a Shoemaker, aged 40, born Houghton, Norfolk.[RM]
