Born in Leeds c.1834.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Manchester on the 13th of December 1854.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Labourer.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

Sent money home from the Crimea to his mother, Mary Garth.

"Deserted" from Brighton on the 6th of June 1856 and rejoined the regiment on the 8th of August 1856.

"Deserted" from Birmingham on the 21st of January 1859 and rejoined the regiment on the 9th of July 1859.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "as a bad character", from Canterbury Depot on the 20th of July 1869.

Served 12 years 43 days, to count.

Conduct and character: "very bad." Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
