Birth & early life

Born in Kensington, London, c.1835.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 12th of June 1854.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Baker.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 29th of April 1855.

At Scutari from the 16th of September and invalided to England on the 24th of September 1855.

Tried by a District Court-martial at Belfast on the 20th of December 1856 for "being drunk on duty". Sentenced to 84 days' imprisonment, of which 28 were remitted.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Weedon on the 17th of October 1866.

Served 12 years 13 days, of which only 12 years 5 days, were "to count."

Conduct and character: "Bad".

Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal without clasp.

Served at Kotah.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
