Born in the parish of St. John's, Exeter.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Westminster on the 9th of December 1854.

Age: 22.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Labourer.

Features: Fresh complexion. Blue eyes. Brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 1st of August 1855.

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Cahir on the 15th of November 1856, upon:

"Reduction of the Army and not likely to become efficient. During his service he has been frequently in hospital and now suffers from a latent form of consumption — the result of pre-disposition and not aided by his military service. Never likely to prove efficient from the fact of his being tubercular in the upper part of the right lung."

Served 1 year 338 days. In Turkey and the Crimea, 8 months.

Conduct: "good." Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
