Birth & early life

Born at ?, Essex, c.1833

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 4th of January 1855.

Age: 22.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Baker.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 20th of June 1855.

Was attached to the 4th Bn. of the Military Train from the 30th of June — 7th of September 1857.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

The muster rolls for the July-September 1858 period show him as "On Field Service" from September.

In action against the rebels at Zeerapore on the 29th of February 1859 and at Baroda on the 1st of January 1859.

Invalided to England on the 26th of January 1863, and being at the Canterbury Depot from the 7th of May.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Mutiny medal without clasp.

Commemorations

Death & burial

Died whilst "on furlo." 18th of August 1863.
