Born in the parish of St. Marylebone, London, c.1822, and baptised there on the 26th of December 1822, the son of Thomas Jones and his wife, Mary Ann.
Enlisted into the 4th Light Dragoons at Westminster on the 28th of September 1841. No Regimental number was allocated.

Trade: Clerk.
Features: Fresh complexion. Hazel eyes. Dk. brown hair.
Transferred to the 17th Lancers on the 17th of May 1842.
Was Hospital Orderly at Scutari from August of 1855.
On the rear party when leaving the Crimea, being attached to the 8th Hussars, and returning with them to England.
Embarked for India from Cork, aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.
The muster rolls for the July-September 1858 period show him "On Detachment at Sholapoore" during the whole of the period.
In action against the rebels at Zeerapore on the 29th of February 1859 and at Baroda on the 1st of January 1859.
Discharged from Colchester on the 28th of October 1865 at "Own request, after 24 years service."
Served 24 years 35 days.

Aged 43 years 10 months on discharge.
Conduct and character: "good".
In possession of five G. C, badges. Twelve times entered in the Regimental Defaulters' book. Never tried by Court-martial.

Mutiny medal without clasp.
Was awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct medal on the 15th of August 1863, with a gratuity of £5.
To live at No. 28 Harcourt Street, Bryanston Square, London, N.W on discharge.
Died in the No 1 London Pension District on the 24th of July 1874.
