Birth & early life

Born at Workington.

Enlistment

Enlisted on the 25th of April 1854.

No other enlistment details are shown.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 29th of May 1855 and was sent on arrival to hospital at Balaclava.

He was at the Cavalry Depot, Scutari, 9th of August — 7th of September 1855.

Transferred to the 3rd Dragoon Guards on the 23rd of April 1857. Regimental No. 374.

To India aboard the "Forerunner".

From Private to Tptr. 1st of February 1861.

Resigned to Private "at his own request", on the 26th of May 1862.

On passage to England on the 22nd of December 1864.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Canterbury on the 23rd of August 1866.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.
