Birth & early life

Born at Barbeary, near Somerton, Somerset, c.1836.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Cole on the 27th of November 1854.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Labourer.

Features: Fresh complexion. Hazel eyes. Lt. brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 16th of July 1855.

Transferred to the 12th Lancers at Cahir on the 12th of August 1856. Regimental No. 1834.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Commemoration

Death & burial

Died in the Regimental Hospital at Bangalore, India, on the 17th of July 1857.

The India Office records show him as dying "of fever" at Bangalore, India, on the 17th of July 1857 and being buried on the following day by the Revd. F.H. Evans.
