Birth & early life

Born c.1830.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Newbridge on the 19th of October 1849.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: None shown.

In custody of the Civil Power from the 1st of November 1853 until he was acquitted on the 6th of January 1854.

Service

Embarked for the Crimea aboard the H.T. "Wilson Kennedy" on the 2nd of May 1854.

From Private to Corporal: 16th of December 1854.

Served in Lord Raglan's Escort Troop and on Lord Raglan's Staff in the Baidur valley on "Letter Duties" in June of 1855.

From Corporal to Sergeant: 14th of February 1856.

Reduced to Private, by a Regimental Court-martial, on the 2nd of July 1857.

Sent to the Depot at Canterbury when the regiment went to India for the Mutiny campaign: 1st of October 1857.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Canterbury on the 18th of October 1861.

Conduct: "good".

In possession of one Good Conduct badge.

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol
