Birth & early life

Born at Bristol, c.1825.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Woodstock on the 16th of May 1846.

Age: 21.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Book-seller.

Service

From Private to Corporal: 21st of December 1849.

Confined, 1st-16th of October. Tried by a Regimental Court-martial and reduced to Private on the 17th of October 1853.

Sent to Scutari on the 29th of November 1854 and rejoined the Regiment on the 3rd of February 1855. He was again at Scutari 4th-24th of April 1855.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "by purchase", from Brighton on the 26th of June 1856. Payment of £21.

Served 10 years 42 days.

Conduct: "good".

In possession of one Good Conduct badge.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol.

The medal roll states, "Medal sent to him on the 9th of February 1857."
