Born at Cashell, Co.Tipperary, c.1829.

Enlistment

Enlisted into the 48th Foot at Dublin on the 15th of February 1848. Regimental No. 2150.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Smith.

Transferred to the 13th Light Dragoons on the 1st of September 1849.

Service

Tried by a Regimental Court-martial on the 7th of December 1854 for "being drunk and wounding Private Brennan of the 17th Lancers." Given 50 lashes. (This could only have been 636 James Brennan, 17th Lancers. See his record)

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Cahir for "Bad conduct" on the 10th of March 1857.

Shown on discharge as Maloney.

Served 4 years 158 days.

Conduct: "Bad".

Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman, Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.
