Birth & early life

Enlistment

Enlisted at Newbridge on the 20th of June 1854.

No other enlistment details are shown.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of July 1855.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Killed in action at Sindwala, India, on the 19th of October 1858.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

He is named as "Christopher" Marchant on both medal rolls.

Served at Kotah and Gwalior.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.

That Returned Medal Book shows: "Mutiny medal returned to the Mint. No trace of issue."
