Birth & early life

Born in Leeds, c.1834.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Leeds into the 7th Hussars on the 26th of October 1854 as No 1418.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: Butcher.

Transferred, at his own request, into the 8th Hussars on the 31st of December 1854. (See record of 1451 Edward Boocock.)

Transferred to the 3rd Dragoon Guards at Dundalk on the 31st of January 1857. Regimental No. 231.

From Private to Corporal: 1st of March 1860.

Invalided to England from India on the 22nd of December 1866.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from the Canterbury Depot on the 24th of April 1867.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
