From Private to Corporal: 29th of August 1855.
Reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 13th of March 1856 for "drunkenness and absence". He also lost 1d. per day in pay for 30 days.
Confined, 14th of April 1856, tried by a District Court-martial on the 15th of April and sentenced to 50 lashes. The nature of the offence is not shown.
"Deserted" from Dundalk on the 1st of December 1856.

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.
