Birth & early life

Born at Naas, Co. Kildare, c.1831.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Newbridge on the 28th of July 1854.

Age: 23.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Baker.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Grey eyes. Brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 19th of April 1855.

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Dundalk on the 21st of October 1856, as:

"Unfit for further service from contraction of the right elbow joint caused by a kick from a horse when on stable-duty. Not likely to become an efficient soldier..."

Served 2 years 89 days.

In Turkey and the Crimea: 1 year.

Conduct: "good". Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Aged 25 years 3 months on discharge.

Awarded a pension of 6d. per day for six months.

To live at Newbridge on discharge, but was later living in Carlow.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
