Birth & early life

Born in the parish of St. Mair, Stukeley, Hunts, c.1830.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Newbridge on the 13th of April 1849.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 7"

Trade: None shown.

Service

Embarked for the Crimea aboard the H.T. "Wilson Kennedy" on the 27th of April 1854.

At Scutari General Hospital from the 22nd of September and sent to rejoin the regiment on the 3rd of October 1854.

From Private to Corporal: 24th of January 1856.

Corporal to Sergeant: 17th of September 1857.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 24th of October 1859.

Death & burial

Died at Nusserabad, India, on the 5th of December 1859.

Next of kin: Father, James Miller, living in Stukeley.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah and Gwalior.
