Birth & early life

Born at Melton Mowbray.

Enlisted on the 8th of August 1854.

No other enlistment details apart from his trade as a farmer are shown.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

Transferred to the 3rd Dragoon Guards on the 31st of January 1857. Regimental No. 103.

Embarked for India aboard the "Ghengis Khan."

Embarked for England on the 31st of January 1865 and joined the Cavalry Depot on the 12th of May.

Discharged, "time expired", from Canterbury on the 8th of August 1866.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.

A "George Orson", aged 62, June Quarter 1894, Oakham.
