Birth & early life

Born in Worcestershire.

1841 Census

In 1841 he is shown as the son of Richard Parker, an Agricultural Labourer, at Strensham, Worcs.

1851 Census

St Margaret's Parish [Strensham?]

By 1851 he is shown as a Servant, a visitor at the house of a William Parker, Lodgekeeper. The name of the house is illegible.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Dublin on the 29th of October 1852.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: None shown.

Service

The Balaclava period muster roll states, "Sick, absent".

He is shown on a nominal roll made out at the Cavalry Depot, Scutari, on the 9th of November 1855 as having been On Duty there as a Batman (but not shown to whom) from the 21st of October .

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Dublin on the 2nd of November 1864.

Conduct: "very good".

In possession of two Good Conduct badges.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Alma and Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.
