Born in Sheffield, Shropshire.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Shrewsbury on the 13th of December 1854.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: Labourer.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 29th of June 1855.

Sent to the Depot at York when the regiment went to Canada, 11th of September 1866.

Discharge & pension

Discharged "time expired", from Canterbury Depot on the 11th of January 1867.

To live at Tipton, Staffordshire.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.

Further Information

[Eds: The 1881 Census returns shows him as aged 47 living at 41 Mount Street, Middlesbrough, an unmarried "Labourer, Iron Works". He was born at Sheffield, Shropshire and was living with his sister-in-law and two nieces.]
