Born in the parish of St. Mary's, Norwich.

John Poyner, 53, Chelsea Pensioner.

Sarah, 54, wife.

Four children shown: Emma 25, William 22, Henry 20 (Solicitors' Clerk), and Elizabeth 18.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 23rd of May 1851.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: Clerk.

Service

At the Scutari General Hospital from the 23rd of October 1854 and sent to rejoin the regiment on the 9th of November.

Appointed to Orderly Room Clerk (as Sergeant) on the 26th of October 1854.

Died "in the Regimental Hospital" at Aldershot on the 2nd of August 1862.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.

The Returned Medal book states that his Crimean and Turkish medals were returned to the Mint. There is no trace of issue.
