1675, Private Daniel PRINCE — 13th Light Dragoons

Birth & early life

Born in Clerkenwell, London.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 14th of November 1854.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Servant.

Service

"Deserted" from Canterbury on the 10th of July and rejoined the Depot on the 15th of July 1855.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 13th of August 1855.

He is shown on a nominal roll of officers and men of the regiment at the Cavalry Depot, Scutari, made out on the 9th of November 1855, as being On Duty there from the 4th of November.

From this he did not serve in Eupatoria with the regiment.

"Deserted" from Newbridge on the 18th of December 1857 and rejoined the regiment at Dublin on the 1st of July 1858.

Tried by a District Court-martial on the 7th of July and sentenced to 84 days imprisonment and to be marked with the letter "D".

"Deserted" from Hamilton, Scotland, on the 14th of January 1861 and rejoined the regiment on the 24th of December 1865. Confined to the 4th of January 1866, tried by a Regimental Court-martial and imprisoned from the 6th of January to the 10th of September 1866. He also forfeited all of his previous service by this conviction.

Sent to the Depot at York when the regiment went to Canada, 1st of September 1866.

"Deserted" from Canterbury on the 10th of July 1867.

Can find no further trace to March of 1879.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
