He appears on the Nominal Roll of surviving members of the Enrolled Pensioner Force of Western Australia entertained at a Banquet held at St. George's Hall in Perth on the 28th of June 1897 as part of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. He was then shown as possessing the Crimea, Crimea-Turkish, and Indian Mutiny medals.

From the date of his discharge he could not have gone out as a guard on the convict ships (these having ended in January 1868) but could easily have joined the E.P.F. before its disbandment in 1880, although he is not shown on the final Nominal Roll of the Enrolled Guard on its disbandment on the 31st of March 1887.

The Dictionary of Western Australia Immigrants 1850-1924 merely shows him as "Arrived as Enrolled Pensioner Guard. Formerly Private 17th Lancers."
