Born in Susmagh, Birr, Co. King's.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Athlone on the 6th of March 1850.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 9".

Trade: Labourer.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Grey eyes. Brown hair.

Service

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Cahir on the 28th of October 1861.

"Medically unfit for further military service. Discharged from slight chronic enlargement of the left testicle caused by coming into contact with the saddle whilst on field drill"

Served 11 years 214 days.

In Turkey and the Crimea: 1 year 10 months.

Conduct: "a good soldier".

In possession of two Good Conduct badges.

Never tried by Court-martial.

Aged 31 years 7 months on discharge.

To live, C/o. Mr. Kennedy, Parson's Town, Birmingham.

Documents confirm the award of the Crimean and Turkish medals.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol.
