Birth & early life

Born at Buttevant, Co. Kilkenny.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Dublin on the 8th of November 1854.

Age: 23.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Shoe-maker.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Grey eyes. Brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of July 1855.

Transferred to the Depot of the Military Train at Dundalk on the 31st of January 1857. Regimental 1357.

From Private to Corporal: 3rd of March 1858.

Corporal to Sergeant: 4th of July 1860.

Transferred to the 7th Battalion of the Military Train on the 6th of October 1860.

"Absent" on the 9th/10th of June and reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 11th of June 1861.

"Deserted" from Dublin on the 16th of March 1864.

Can find no further trace to 1870.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
