Birth & early life

Enlistment

Enlisted at Cork on the 8th of January 1847.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 7".

Service

Embarked for the Crimea aboard the H.T. "Shooting Star" on the 25th of April 1854.

Dangerously wounded in action at Balaclava.

Sent to Scutari on the 26th of October 1854. Although the muster roll states "Died of his wounds at Scutari, No date known", his name cannot be found on the muster rolls of Scutari Hospital either for the October-December 1854 or the January-March Quarter of 1855.

It can only be assumed, therefore, that he may have died on board ship during the passage down and the regiment was not notified of this.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Balaclava and Sebastopol.

Death & burial

He may have died on board ship to Scutari, having been wounded in action at Balaclava, 25th October 1854.
