Transferred to the 11th Hussars on the 1st of June 1846.
"Deserted" from Canterbury on the 22nd of February and rejoined on the 5th of July 1847:
"Deserted" from Hounslow on the 6th of October and rejoined on the 25th of October 1848.
At the time of his desertion from Hounslow in October of 1848 he was described as being of a "fresh complexion, grey eyes, and light brown hair".

Although, from the date of his death, he could well have been present at the battle of the Alma, only his number and name is entered on the Alma/Inkerman clasp roll, there being no qualification for either clasp shown, apart from the initials W. O. (as if a medal was sent to the War Office). Neither is he shown on the Sebastopol clasp roll.
